Welcome to Newly Everything! Everything new to us (which these days most things are) is shared with you.
Sarah and Stephanie are new friends, both newlywed, and living in a new city (Atlanta). They were put in touch by a mutual and fabulous friend and have bonded over their new experiences and shared love of all things fit, fun, foodie and frozen (ice cream).
Our blog was born on a beautiful October day during a sweat session in Atlanta’s Piedmont park. We hope that by sharing our new experiences with you, you will be inspired to find something new in your city that is fun, fit, foodie and frozen.
Welcome to Newly Everything! My name is Sarah and I am a Registered Nurse and Adult Nurse Practitioner. After our wedding in August 2011, my new husband (and best friend) Danny and I relocated to Atlanta from Boston. We were bummed to leave family, friends and our favorite college football team (Boston College) behind but are very excited to embrace the new opportunities, activities and foods characteristic to this great city. We also are thrilled with our new change in climate after 7 years in Boston and a childhood in Chicago. I am a self-proclaimed “foodie” and Danny and I have enjoyed all of the great Atlanta-based chefs and dishes we have tried so far!
My wonderful, social and tight-knit family has played a huge role in the person I have become. I love sharing meals with friends and family, planning get-togethers, and participating in sports and following my favorite teams (Go BEARS). We are an active bunch and have supported each other in countless athletic endeavors. I took up running in college, and have since completed one marathon, two half marathons and my fair share of Thanksgiving Turkey Trots. While I continue to run, I also enjoy yoga, spin classes and circuit training.
My philosophy for health and wellness is to seek balance and avoid extremes. I find that I am truly happiest when I keep moving and treat myself to my favorite foods (pizza and all things chocolate). Everything should be enjoyed and appreciated in moderation!
Keep it New!
Hello! My name is Stephanie, and I live in Atlanta with my wonderful and new husband. I am a certified Personal Trainer and am currently completing my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Peachtree Yoga. We knew we were moving to Atlanta before we got married on May 28, 2011 in Tucson, Arizona where we had a small yet intimate wedding. It was hard to leave our life in Kansas City, but we have not looked back. We love Atlanta! It is certainly a fun, fit, foodie, and frozen (mint chocolate anything is my favorite) kind of town.
A little bit more about me…
I grew up in Chicago and went to Loyola University Chicago where I majored in psychology. After school, I headed west to Phoenix to teach fourth grade with Teach For America for two years. During this time, I had two knee surgeries. I was an avid runner in college (not competitive), and my knees were not happy with me. I gave up running (I am starting to get back into it) and found yoga. Ahhh! It is here that my passion for health and wellness was born. I continued to teach elementary school as well as pursue a Master’s in Education. There was one problem, I kept getting pulled towards topics related to nutrition and health and wellness. My passion was becoming more than a hobby. With the support of my family and friends (I love you all!), I decided to follow my dreams. I want to help people listen to their bodies, enjoy food, and feel good! All or nothing does not work.
I am learning so much from the yogis leading my training program as well as my fellow classmates. I am very excited to see what the future holds for me here in Atlanta.
When I am not practicing yoga or personal training, you can find me at Dekalb Market or Trader Joe’s buying newingredients for our next seasonal meal or reading through blogs to find new recipes that look yummy and workouts that look fun. I also enjoy trying new restaurants, cycling, walking, and spending quality time with my husband. We enjoy walking in Piedmont or Chastain Park on Sunday mornings.
